Police are looking to identify a man after the recovery of a stolen electric bike in Edwalton.
The incident occurred when a man was seen riding one bike while holding another before losing his balance on Wellin Lane, Edwalton.
A keen-eyed member of the public suspected something was awry and approached the man, taking custody of the second e-bike.
After a brief confrontation around 10.20am on Thursday (2nd July), the rider departed, and police were swiftly notified.
Nottinghamshire Police later determined that the e-bike handed to them had been reported stolen earlier that day from a garage in Edwalton.
The bike has since been returned to its rightful owner, while investigations continue to identify those responsible for the burglary.
Officers have released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with their inquiries.
PCSO Jodie Turner of Nottinghamshire Police commended the actions of the individual who intercepted the bike.
She further urged anyone recognising the man in the police image to come forward with information.
"We’d also ask that the individual in question does the right thing, if they see this appeal, and makes himself known to us," Turner said.
Members of the public can contact police by calling 101, citing incident number 234 of 2nd July 2026 or report information anonymously to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
