Police have been given extra time to question a suspect following a murder in Ollerton, Nottinghamshire.
Police have been given extra time to question a suspect following the murder of a woman in Ollerton, Nottinghamshire.
Her body was found at an address on James Close shortly before 8pm on Sunday (6 Sept).
Family members reported they were unable to contact her and officers entered her home.
A 60-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. The courts have granted police an additional 36 hours to question him.
Detective Inspector Stu Barson, who is leading the investigation, said:
"This was an utterly horrific and violent crime committed on a woman in her own home, and we will leave no stone unturned.
"The family remain at the heart of everything we do. As you can imagine, this news has been utterly devastating for them, and they have asked for privacy during this incredibly difficult time.
"We would like anyone with information, who has not already been in touch, to please contact us, especially if you live in the area of James Close in Ollerton.
"Did you see or notice any suspicious activity before or during Sunday 6 September? Even the smallest piece of information may prove vital to this investigation."
The victim's family is being supported by specialist officers.
