A Bedfordshire Police officer has been jailed for careless driving, after causing a collision which left a woman with serious injuries.
PC Misho Tamoev was off-duty in his personal vehicle when he failed to give way at a junction in Leicestershire on 23 November 2024. The driver of the other vehicle suffered multiple injuries including a fractured spine.
Tamoev was charged with causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving and pleaded guilty at Leicester Magistrates’ Court in January. He was sentenced to 6 months in prison at a hearing and was given a driving ban for 18 months.
The officer had received a final written warning for discreditable conduct at an earlier accelerated misconduct hearing, after it was deemed his actions had amounted to gross misconduct.
