Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has declared a major incident following months of hot, dry weather.

Bosses there say they have made the move following sustained pressure on the service.

They said: "The Service is currently operating with very limited resources and reduced pump availability. As a result, response times to any further incidents are likely to be delayed.

"We would like to remind people not to light any fires, such as campfires or BBQs, and to take extra care when disposing of cigarettes due to the incredibly dry conditions, as a spark could spread quickly."

It's as the East Midlands is under yet another yellow heat health alert, with temperatures due to rise again this week.

A number of regions in England were put in drought status at the end of July, with warnings more could be declared in the coming days. The East Midlands is in a period of "prolonged dry weather", according to the Environment Agency.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue is still urging us to call 999 in an emergency.
