Two arrested after machete found hidden behind electric box in Nottingham
Police say the weapon was recovered after a dispute in Bobbers Mill
Two people have been arrested after a machete was found stashed behind an electric box in Nottingham.
Police were called to the Bobbers Mill area following reports of a dispute in which a weapon was brandished, on Ascot Road at around 7:40pm on Thursday 30th July.
Nobody was hurt.
Officers said the person carrying the weapon then travelled to the Clifton area, where the bladed weapon was hidden behind an electric box.
It was recovered soon after by officers, who then located two people inside a nearby address following further enquiries.
A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and possessing a bladed article in public.
A 25-year-old man was also arrested, on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "There is no excuse for anyone to ever brandish a bladed weapon and threaten someone with it.
"Following extensive inquiries, our officers were able to recover a machete that we believe was involved in this incident, before then arresting a pair of suspects.
"Any weapon we can take off the streets and out of harm's way is undoubtedly a positive thing, so the officers involved deserve credit for helping us do this."
