Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed and killed in Leicester.
Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed in Leicester.
The man - who was in his 20s and suffering injuries to his chest and stomach - stopped a police car on London Road at around 10:45pm yesterday (22 July).
He was taken to hospital but died in the early hours of this morning (23 July).
Detectives believe he was attacked on De Montford Place, which is to the rear of a number of properties on London Road.
Cordons are in place as forensic officers investigate.
Detective Inspector Lorna Granville, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Major Crime Team, said: “Our investigation is in the very early stages, and we are currently working to establish the full circumstances and identify those who may have been involved.
“We believe the injured man may have been stabbed minutes before he was able to stop an officer who was driving in the area. Sadly, despite the efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead in hospital a few hours later.
“We have a number of enquiries underway but would ask anyone who was in that area of London Road last night, between 10.30pm and 11pm, to contact police. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have been driving along London Road at that time and may have captured any dash cam footage."
