A drug dealer from Sutton-in-Ashfield has been jailed for six and a half years, after police caught him trying to flush a stash of Class A substances down the toilet.

Tobe Ojukwe (29), of Froghopper Lane, was arrested at an address in Stockwell Court, Mansfield, in June 2024.

A bag containing 94 wraps of heroin and 37 wraps of crack cocaine was recovered from the toilet bowl.

Ojukwe was already under investigation for drug dealing, after being stopped while driving in August 2023.

His phones were also seized, and messages referring to the riskiness of "the drug business" were discovered.

He pleaded guilty at Nottingham Crown Court to six counts of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

On Tuesday 31 March, Ojukwe was sentenced to six years and six months in prison.

PC Dean Fenton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Ojukwe is a persistent criminal who tried and failed twice to outsmart the police as the inevitable consequences of his trade caught up with him.

“Illegal drugs are a blight on our communities and we are committed to taking dealers like Ojukwe off of our streets.

“If people are dealing drugs in our community, they can be assured that they too can expect to come face to face with us.”
