A man's body has been pulled from the water at Watermead Country Park near Leicester.

Emergency crews were called just before half past two yesterday afternoon, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say his death is being treated as unexplained while enquiries continue.

In a statement, Leicestershire Police said: A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “Police received a call at 2.28pm today (Saturday 4 July) regarding a report of a body in the water at Watermead Country Park.

“Officers attended at the location and the body of a man was removed a short time after.

“Colleagues from East Midlands Ambulance also attended and the man was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

“The death is being treated as unexplained as enquiries continue.”
