Efforts to control timber fire continue around commercial site
A section of Hallam Fields Road in Ilkeston has been closed while emergency services deal with a significant fire at a commercial site.
The affected area includes the Donaldson Timber premises, and access to surrounding businesses is restricted.
Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service has dispatched three fire engines and an aerial ladder platform to the scene.
Firefighters are using equipment to direct water from above to tackle the flames consuming a large pile of timber.
Nearby residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke in the vicinity.
The fire was reported at 01:44 hours following a 999 call early on Wednesday morning, and efforts to contain the blaze have been ongoing throughout the day.
