Teenage boy suffers serious head injury in Mansfield park incident

A teenage boy is being treated for a serious head injury in hospital after an incident in a Mansfield park.

Police say it happened in the early hours of Wednesday 17th June in Ladybrook Park with the 16-year-old victim sent to hospital.

Another 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Officers are urging anyone who saw or heard what happened to come forward – particularly those who may have footage of the incident.

Detective Sergeant Nathan Bingham said:

“The victim in this case suffered a very serious head injury and is currently being treated in hospital.

“As we work to understand exactly what happened and why, we are appealing for everyone with information to come forward.

“We know this incident was witnessed and potentially filmed by multiple people who have yet to speak to us.

“I want them to understand just how serious this incident was and how important it is that they come forward.”
