Four arrests made in connection with a stabbing in Nottinghamshire
A man in his 30s was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being attacked in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Four further arrests have been made overnight in connection with a stabbing last week.
A man in his 30s was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being attacked in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
An investigation has been ongoing since the stabbing, which happened around 11pm on 5 February in Beechwood Close.
Led by these inquiries, firearms officers executed a warrant at a Sutton-in-Ashfield property in the early hours of this morning (10 February).
Having initially removed two suspects from the address in Willow Crescent, a lengthy standoff then took place with the other people inside.
This lasted for several hours – during which time a police drone was damaged – before officers managed to remove two more people from the property.
Four men – aged 18, 19, 23 and 23 – were all duly arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
All of them bar the 19-year-old man were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
One of the 23-year-olds and the 18-year-old were additionally arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
This morning’s police activity took the total number of arrests made as part of the stabbing investigation up to six.
That’s after two men – aged 45 and 52 – were arrested last week on suspicion of wounding with intent.
Both suspects have since been bailed with strict conditions.
Detective Inspector Ian Smith, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Our teams of detectives have been conducting extensive inquiries since the stabbing in Sutton-in-Ashfield last week.
“Led by these findings, a warrant was executed at an address in the town earlier this morning, where we were ultimately able to locate and arrest four suspects.
“This followed a lengthy standoff that lasted several hours, so I’d like to commend all the Operational Support teams and other officers who attended for their efforts overnight.
“We’ve now made six arrests as part of our investigation but would like to reiterate that our inquiries are still very much ongoing.
“As such, we’d once again ask that anyone who knows anything about what happened – whether that’s something they’ve seen or heard – please shares this with us.”
