Final submissions commence in Nottingham attacks inquiry
Participants present final arguments in examination of June 2023 attacks
The Nottingham Inquiry begins its closing submissions today, marking a significant step towards concluding its examination of the violent events that took place in June 2023.
On 13th June 2023, Valdo Calocane killed Barnaby Webber, Grace O’Malley-Kumar, and Ian Coates in Nottingham city centre before seriously injuring three pedestrians.
This independent statutory inquiry was established on 22nd May 2025, with the aim of understanding the events leading up to these attacks.
Chairing the Inquiry is Her Honour Deborah Taylor, who wants to ensure that lessons can be learned to prevent similar incidents.
The evidence hearings took place from 23rd February to 5th June 2026.
Today, the Inquiry is set to hear closing submissions from Counsel for Core Participants.
These submissions will continue tomorrow, Wednesday 9th September 2026.
