A man has been stabbed in Leicester city centre.

A scene is in place on Charles Street where it happened at around 3:30am today (16 April) and the road remains closed near the junction to Yeoman Lane.

A man in his 20s was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life-changing or -threatening.

Sergeant Steph Burnham, from the Central Leicester Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA) said: “It was reported a group of men were seen running off towards Lee Circle, St James Street and Hill Street.

“I’d like to speak to anyone who was in or close to Charles Street in the early hours of this morning. We are keen to speak to anyone with a dashcam in their vehicle and residents or business owners who have a camera on the outside of their property.

“Any information or footage you’re able to provide, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could help.”
