Two men, aged 19 and 25, have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Leicester.

Patrolling officers found an injured man on Modbury Avenue at around 12:10am on Monday (29 September). They carried out CPR, but the man died at the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Tim Lindley, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit’s (EMSOU) major crime team, is leading the investigation. He said: “Despite the arrests our enquiries to establish the circumstances of what happened are continuing and I’d ask anyone who can help us to come forward.

“The area where the man was found and where an assault is believed to have occurred is residential and I’d ask people to check their doorbell and CCTV cameras if they have one. I’d also like to speak to anyone who was driving in the area and has a dashcam in their vehicle.

“In addition, I’d like to speak to anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious or unusual either late Sunday evening or in the very early hours of yesterday morning.

“Any details you’re able to provide, no matter how insignificant you think they are, could help.”

Two men are being questioned on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.
