15 in hospital after suspected chlorine leak at Derby Leisure Centre
Emergency services were first called at lunchtime today
15 people have been taken to hospital after a suspected chlorine leak at a leisure centre in Derby.
Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service was called to the site at 13:38 hours following reports of a potential chemical leak.
Firefighters from Ascot Drive, Kingsway, and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service Stapleford stations are in attendance supported by a specialist Environmental Protection Unit from Stockhill.
They are working closely with colleagues from Derbyshire Constabulary and East Midlands Ambulance Service who are also in attendance.
The site was evacuated and closed, along with Osmaston Park Road, to the junction with Moor Lane.
Around 12 people reported to be experiencing breathing difficulties and have been assessed by paramedics. Firefighters remain at the scene ventilating the premises.
