An emergency closure has been put in place on the road which passes the Hardy Monument due to a large hole.
Dorset Council say repairs will be carried out on the C112 Martinstown in the new year, as the plant that provides their materials is closed over the Christmas period.
A spokesperson for Dorset Council said in a statement:
"There is an emergency road closure on the C112 Martinstown.
"This is the road passes the Hardy Monument.
"There is a large hole in the road. Repairs will be carried out in the new year."
"For clarification the reason why the repairs can't be carried out until the new year is that the plant that provides our materials is closed for Christmas."
