Police are appealing for witnesses following reports of offences involving an e-scooter rider in Poole and Bournemouth.

The incidents occurred on the evening of 6th June, with a Beryl e-scooter spotted riding along the promenade at Branksome Chine around 7pm.

According to reports, the scooter carried two people and the rider appeared to have alcohol in their possession and shouted at an officer as they went past.

The same e-scooter was later seen on Sandbanks Road around 7.20pm, where passengers reportedly shouted and gestured at officers and the public.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the person on the back reportedly jumped off and made off from the scene while the 35-year-old male rider was stopped nearby and arrested.

He was subsequently de-arrested and is assisting the police with their investigation.

Police Constable Mark Matthews, of Poole police, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this matter and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed any anti-social behaviour involving an e-scooter being ridden along the seafront in Bournemouth and Poole around the relevant time to please contact us.

“We take reports of offences involving e-scooters and other vehicles of this type seriously and will carry out a full investigation to ensure appropriate action is taken.”
