Mobility scooter rider seriously injured after crash with van in Bournemouth
It happened at the junction of Ensbury Park Road and Cherries Drive yesterday lunchtime
A man on a mobility scooter's suffered a serious leg injury after being hit by a transit van in Bournemouth.
Dorset Police received a report at 12.49pm yesterday (10 February) afternoon of a collision at the junction of Ensbury Park Road and Cherries Drive involving a white Ford Transit van and a pedestrian on a mobility scooter.
Emergency services attended and road closures were put in place as they responded to the incident.
The pedestrian – aged in his 50s – sustained a leg injury that was believed to be serious but not life-threatening and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police Constable Josh Alner, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.
“I would also urge any motorists who were travelling in the area of Ensbury Park Road and Cherries Drive around the time of the collision to please review any available dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything of relevance.
“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience during the road closures, which were put in place to allow the emergency services to respond and enquiries at the scene to be conducted.”
