Man charged after serious injury collision on Weymouth seafront

A man from Weymouth has been charged after a collision left a teenage cyclist with severe injuries.

The incident took place on The Esplanade near the Jubilee Clock Tower at 5.26pm on 10th April 2025, involving a van and a cyclist.

The cyclist, a teenage boy, was airlifted to hospital with life-changing injuries.

Dorset Police arrested a 34-year-old man at the scene following initial inquiries.

After a detailed investigation he has been issued with a postal requisition for causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He is expected to appear at Weymouth Magistrates Court on Friday 20 March.
