A man has been jailed after he attacked another male and stole their phone in Poole.

22 year-old Callum Giddins of Wimborne, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court to three years in prison.

A second defendant, 19-year-old Casper Blackmore from Wimborne, was handed an 18-month sentence suspended for two years for his involvement in the incident.

At around 2pm on Monday 17 October 2022, Blackmore and Giddins approached the victim from behind as he sat on a bench in Merley Park Road.

They grabbed him by the back of his neck and punched him multiple times, before stealing his iPhone and leaving the scene.

Detective Constable Steven Davis, of BCP CID, said: “The victim in this case was simply sat on a bench and minding his business, unaware that he was to be targeted by two robbers. He was subjected to a vicious attack, had his phone stolen and was left with a head injury which needed medical treatment.

“We are pleased that Blackmore and Giddins are facing justice for their violent actions, and we hope this demonstrates we will do all we can to hold offenders to account.”
