Man dies in Dorset Police custody
Police have made a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct
A man in his 30s has died while in custody at Bournemouth police station.
The man had been held in custody since the afternoon of Saturday (14 June).
The following afternoon he was found unresponsive in his cell at Bournemouth police station.
First aid was provided by staff and paramedics, but he was very sadly declared deceased just after 5.30pm.
The man’s next of kin has been informed and HM Coroner notified.
As is mandatory with a death in custody, Dorset Police have made a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), who is now independently investigating.
