A Bournemouth woman has died after a crash on the A35 in West Dorset early this morning (October 22).

The incident, which happened near Askerswell at 12.05am this morning (October 22), involved a white BMW and a grey BMW.

A 37-year-old woman from Bournemouth was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said her next of kin have been informed and the coroner has been notified.

A 28-year-old man from Plymouth was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries.

A 35-year-old man from Poole has been arrested on suspicion of a driving offence. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed for several hours to enable emergency services to attend the scene.

Police are investigating what happened and are now appealing for any witnesses or people with dashcam footage to come forward.

Police Sergeant Leanne Howes, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Tragically, a woman has lost her life in this collision and our thoughts are with her loved ones.

“Road closures were put in place while an examination of the scene was carried out and we are aware that they would have greatly impacted motorists.

"I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while they were in place.”
