A third man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a 24-year-old man in Plymouth.

Detectives launched a murder investigation after the body of Drew Perham was found in Millnay Marina during searches on Sunday (January 25).

Drew has been reported missing on Saturday (January 24) after he failed to return home from a night out on Friday (January 23).

Today (January 27) a third man, aged 19, from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into police custody.

Two other men, both 19, one from Plymouth and one from Exmouth remain in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of murder.

A 36-hour warrant for further detention was granted yesterday for the Plymouth man by Plymouth Magistrates' Court, while the Exmouth man continues to be held after a Superintendent’s extension was authorised to detain him for a further 12 hours.

An increased police presence remains around Millbay Marina as investigations continue.

Detective Inspector Neil Blanchard from the Major Crime Investigation Team said: “The investigation into Drew’s death is progressing at a fast pace with a third arrest this morning. There are a number of enquiries taking place and Drew’s family continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

“We are still asking for anyone with information to get in touch, particularly any witnesses who may have been in the Millbay area between 1am and 5am on Saturday 24 January.

“I continue to ask people to avoid speculating about this case – this is an ongoing investigation to establish the full circumstances of this incident and online speculation in particular is not helpful."

Anyone with information that could assist detectives is encouraged to contact police, especially those who were in the area during the specified times.
