Recycling banks being removed due to low usage
The banks are said to 'expensive to run, underused and all the materials you can take to the banks can be recycled at home'
Recycling banks are being removed from some sites in West Devon - as they are not used enough.
The council says they are located in areas where the same items can be collected from homes.
Councillor Jeff Moody, West Devon's Lead Member for Waste and Recycling, said: "Many of these banks have very low usage now, as all the materials are collected weekly as part of the household waste collection service, and are costly to run and maintain.
"They also are a repeated location for fly-tipping, which costs the council and its residents even more money to clear up.
"Additional recycling material can also still be taken to household recycling centres in Tavistock or Okehampton.
"Notices are being placed on the affected banks to inform residents that they will be removed in the following weeks."
