Police have removed 20 dogs from a residential property on Torland Road in Plymouth following welfare concerns.

The action was taken after a warrant was issued last week as part of an investigation involving the RSPCA into the animals' living conditions.

PC Dan Meakin, who assisted with executing the warrant, said:

“We’re pleased to say that all the dogs located at the address were safely removed from the property. They will now be cared for by the RSPCA whilst enquiries are ongoing."

The operation was took place on Tuesday, 31st March under the Animal Welfare Act by officers from the Devonport Neighbourhood Police team, with assistance from the RSPCA.

“We continue to work alongside our partners to keep everyone safe - that includes the welfare and wellbeing of four-legged friends,” PC Meakin added.

“If anyone has any concerns around the welfare of animals, please report it.”

Investigations into the case are still ongoing as police look into the welfare conditions at the property.
