Family tribute to "truly wonderful" Plymouth man who died in M5 collision

The family of a 39-year-old man who died in a collision on the M5 have paid tribute to him, saying ‘the world has lost a truly wonderful gentleman’.

Mihai Florescu, from Plymouth, has also been remembered as a loving husband, son, brother and friend.

He died at the scene of a four-vehicle collision which happened near to Junction 27 of the M5 at around 11.10pm on Thursday 18 September.

Mihai’s wife Laura said: “There are few words to express the deep pain and sorrow of losing Mihai Florescu, a loving husband, son, brother and friend who has been taken from us far too soon.

“The world has lost a truly wonderful gentleman and we have lost our world.”

Police said the collision involved four vehicles – a Volkswagen Transporter, a Land Rover Discovery, a Kia Ceed and the Toyota Prius Mihai was driving.

A man aged in his 40s from the Cullompton area, who was driving the Transporter, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Police said he has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
