Man dies following welfare concerns on Exmouth Beach

Several emergency services were called to the scene on Sunday

A man in his 50s has died after an incident involving several emergency services at Exmouth Beach.

Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police were called to the beach by the South West Ambulance Service at around 2:40pm on Sunday afternoon (June 1st).

When officers arrived at the scene, they found that a man had gone missing, with concerns growing for the welfare of the man.

According to the ambulance service, a man had become unwell close to the RNLI lifeboat station nearby.

A number of other emergency services were called to the beach - including air ambulance services.

However, despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man - who is believed to be in his 50s - was pronounced dead at the scene.

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that they are not treating the incident as "suspicious".
