Police continue to investigate death of elderly woman in Exeter

A 92-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death

Detectives are continuing to investigate the death of an 87-year-old woman found at her home in Millbrook Lane, Exeter.

Police arrived at the property around 12.40pm on Sunday, 19th April, after receiving a welfare concern report.

Despite the efforts of officers and paramedics, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her family has been notified and is receiving support from specially trained officers.

Detective Inspector Guy Biggar is leading the investigation.

He said the inquiries would continue to establish what happened and noted, "A police guard that was set up at the scene has since been stood down."

While police presence in the area remains heightened, he mentioned that the woman and the suspect were known to each other and no further suspects are being sought at this time.

A 92-year-old man from Exeter has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Police have urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has information, including dashcam footage, to come forward.
