Drivers in Devon are set to see relief as the lane closure on a major road is nearing its end.

The eastbound carriageway on the A30 near Rawridge, Honiton was partially closed due to a landslip, necessitating temporary traffic lights to control the flow of vehicles.

Motorists have experienced significant tailbacks, especially during peak times, as they travel towards Honiton from the east.

These delays have been exacerbated by the beginning of Easter holidays, with many people heading to Devon for their breaks.

According to Jonny Hill, route manager for National Highways, the repairs are progressing, and the lane is expected to reopen fully on the 22nd April.

Hill said: "Safety is our number one priority and due to a landslip, we installed an eastbound lane closure on the A30 at Rawridge Hill, with two-way traffic signals in place to protect road users but also to keep delays to a minimum."

Hill continued, "We experienced some delays during the initial works but we’ve been working hard to complete the repairs as quickly as possible and anticipate the road fully reopening on the morning of the 22nd April."

He emphasised the importance of the signals until the completion of the works and thanked drivers for their patience during this essential safety work.
