New flood resilience grants launched to support affected Devon communities
Help available for communities recovering from January flooding
Communities impacted by flooding due to Storm Chandra and the recent wet weather are being encouraged to apply for funding support through the Devon Community Resilience Forum.
Two types of grants are available: assistance for creating local emergency plans and funding for small scale works and resilience equipment. The small scale works grant, which typically requires an existing emergency plan, has been expanded to include communities still working on or without such plans.
Until the end of March 2026, eligible groups can apply for up to £1,500 to fast-track purchasing flood equipment like personal protective equipment and sandbags. In certain cases, contributions toward minor works supporting flood recovery or community resilience may be granted, excluding tasks like drain clearance and maintenance expected to be handled by landowners.
Priority for funding will be given to applications from areas most affected by the January 2026 floods. Applications are open to constituted groups, such as Parish Councils or Community Groups, with a bank account. Forms can be accessed through the Devon Communities Together website.
Groups interested in developing an emergency plan can also apply for separate funding, with Devon Communities Together offering support during the planning process.
