A man in his 70s has died following a fire at a four-storey building in Torquay.

Emergency services were alerted at 8.25pm on Thursday 1st October when a call was made to the police by the ambulance service about a fire on Park Hill Road.

Despite receiving medical treatment, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Devon and Cornwall Police.

Cause of Fire Under Investigation

Law enforcement and emergency services are currently investigating the cause of the blaze.

A police cordon remains in place at the site as inquiries continue to uncover what led to the fire.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police were called by the ambulance service at 8.25pm on Thursday 1 October due to a residential property fire in Park Hill Road, Torquay.

"A man in his 70s received medical treatment but despite the best efforts of paramedics he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"A police cordon remains in place while investigations continue to determine the cause of the fire.”
