Alanis Morissette headlines tonight at the four-day 'Live at Powderham Castle' shows, with some local businesses having to close because of the disruption.

Rosie Dawson is the chair of Devon County Council and a councillor for nearby Dawlish who has been meeting with event organisers to try and address some of the problems.

She said: "People having the most disruption and people who aren't going to the event and just want to get home from work, they've got to be heard. They've got to have a voice here.

"I know that Powderham will be listening and I will be encouraging Devon County Council to look at all the impacts of everybody post event.

"I think Powderham actually have been quite honest when I started communicating with them just a few weeks ago - that they didn't consider Cockwood, Dawlish, Teignmouth and that sort of commuter belt. They will be in future.

"When the promoter was talking at one of the meetings they were saying that they forecast between three and five million pounds coming into the wider area when there's large shows like this.

"That is reassuring, but what I would like to see is a post-event impact report really.

"I'd like to see where they think that money is spent and what the benefit is and I think in the future I would like to see - if they're doing events like this again - much more communication across that coastal belt, across every single community that's affected."
