A dispersal order was put in place in Workington town centre after trouble involving young people yesterday (12th October).

It lifted in the early hours of this morning.

Officers say there had been hoax calls from a phone box on Murray Road and reports of an assault.

Two children were taken home by police officers.

Parents in the area were asked to check where their children were and urged to keep them from the city centre that evening.

An Allerdale Police spokesperson said at the time, "Due to a number of youths using the telephone kiosk to make hoax calls to the police at Murray Road, Workington and reports of an Assault by youths, also in Workington this afternoon, a Section 34 dispersal notice has been authorised and is in place until 04:17 on Monday 13th October 2025.

"This gives officers powers to disperse individuals involved in Anti Social Behaviour from Workington Town Centre.

"Two youths have already been issued with dispersal notice and taken home. Officers will continue to patrol the town centre throughout the evening."
