Three remain in hospital after Whitehaven house gas explosion

Police say the three people injured in a gas explosion in Whitehaven are in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

It happened on Hugh Street on New Year's Eve.

The casualties are a man and a woman in their 70s and a woman in her 50s.

They were injured in the explosion - causing major damage on the street.

Authorities remain at the scene making the area safe and say multiple people affected by this are staying in accommodation elsewhere.

Two fundraising pages have been set up to help - collectively raising not far off nine thousand pounds so far.
