A pensioner has appeared in court accused of sexually assaulting a woman.

Martin Gale, aged 71, faces three separate charges.

Two allege that Gale assaulted the woman by sexual penetration. A third charge alleges that he sexually assaulted the woman.

All charges relate to alleged offences which are said to have occurred in the Carlisle area during April, 2025.

Gale appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court today (mon). During a short hearing he entered no pleas to the charges he faces.

Gale, of Luton Road, Thornton-Cleveleys, near Blackpool, is next due to appear at Carlisle Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on 14th September. In the meantime he has been granted conditional bail.
