Murder investigation opens in Carlisle
It's after the death of a woman yesterday
A murder investigation has been opened in Carlisle.
Police were called just after 11.20pm on Sunday the 2 August 2026 to reports of a sudden death of a woman at a property on Whinlatter Way.
Emergency services attended, but the woman, in her 60s, was declared deceased at the scene.
A man in his 60s has been arrested, on suspicion of murder.
Investigations are currently ongoing.
Members of the public may notice an increased police presence in the area, while officers carry out inquiries.
Officers are reassuring the public that there is no wider threat to the community and ask that people avoid speculation whilst the investigation is ongoing.
