Mountain rescue aids injured dog at Scafell Pike
13-member team assists descent for canine

Mountain Rescue Team was dispatched to Scafell Pike to assist a large dog that had sustained an injury and struggled to descend the popular peak.
Cumbria Police received a call on 13th August about a dog that had cut its paw, prompting a full team callout.
The Mountain Rescue Team began work at 3pm and continued until 8:30pm, assisting the canine and its owner.
The dog weighed 30kg, and despite the owner's successful efforts in bandaging and bringing the dog down partway, the descent couldn't be completed safely without assistance.
Upon arrival, the Mountain Rescue team assessed the dog's injury, re-bandaged the paw, and continued the descent.
The team later met a stretcher party, where the dog was placed on a stretcher for the remainder of the journey off the hill.
Weather conditions on the day included 24.3°C temperatures, good visibility, and a light southwestern wind.
