Man dies following a fatal collision in Barrow

A driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing dangerous driving and overprescribed limit of drug consumption

Cumbria Police are appealing for witnesses after a report of a two vehicle collision on the A5087 Coast Road in Barrow.

An Audi S4 and a Volkswagen Up were the vehicles involved in the collision.

A passenger of the Volkswagen sadly died at the scene despite receiving medical treatment. Meanwhile the driver, also a man in his late teens was airlifted to hospital in Preston where he remains currently.

A 20-year-old man from Barrow who was driving the Audio has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, whilst also being over the prescribed limit of a specified drug.

He was now been released from the station pending further investigation.

Police are now appealing for any information or witnesses that could support their investigation.
