Another man has been charged with attempted murder following a suspected stabbing in Carlisle last month.

Emergency services were called out to an address on Edward Street at around 3.25am on Sunday 29th March.

They'd had reports that a man in his 30s had been stabbed.

He was taken to hospital with a number of suspected stab wounds and has since been discharged.

Five people were arrested, two men on suspicion of murder, two women on suspicion of assisting an offender, and a man on suspicion of wounding with intent.

Two men have already been charged with attempted murder: 29-year-old Connor Challenor, and 46-year-old Alex Steventon.

Now, 21-year-old Leon Ingledow, of Howe Street in Carlisle, has been charged with attempted murder.

He appeared at Carlisle Magistrates this morning (8th April) and was remanded in custody to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on 1st May.

He was previously arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

Officers are still appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area of Edward Street, Sybil Street and Lindisfarne Street on the night on 28th March or the early hours of 29th March, to contact them.

They also want to hear from anyone who saw a grey Seat Arona, registration PY23 OES, in and around these areas or the London Road area.

Reports can be made by calling 101 and quoting log 31 of March 29.
