Man in 80s dies after crash on A-road in Cumbria

He was pronounced dead at the scene

A man in his 80s has died following a two-vehicle crash on the A591 on Saturday (11th October).

A man in his 20s was also injured but not seriously.

An investigation has been launched into the crash.

A Cumbria police spokesperson said, "Police were called to a two-vehicle collision on the A591, near Winter Lane, at 3.28pm on Saturday October 11.

"The collision involved a Peugeot 108 and a Volkswagen Golf.

"The driver of the Peugeot, a man in his eighties, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The driver of the Volkswagen, a man in his twenties, sustained non-serious injuries that didn’t require hospital treatment.

"Officers are investigating the collision and are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to contact them."

Anyone with information is asked to either call 101 or make a report online quoting incident 137 of October 11.
