Cumbria Police has been ranked as the top force in England and Wales based on overall confidence in its policing, according to the latest Crime Survey for England and Wales.

The survey, which covered the year up to September last year, asked residents about their views on crime.

Alongside ranking top in overall confidence by the public, Cumbria Police also came top in these categories:

  • Officers understanding and dealing with local concerns
  • Police reliability
  • Officers doing a 'good excellent job'

“Cumbria is a safe place to live, work and visit and the most recent crime survey emphasises this point", Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, David Allen, said.

He continued, “However, this does not mean that we are resting on our laurels – Cumbria Constabulary are continuously developing as an organisation with the aim to be the best force in the country."

Chief Constable Darren Martland thanked those in the force, “I’d like to thank again our officers and staff for all the hard work they do engaging with our communities, protecting people and deterring and solving crime.”
