Cumbria Constabulary achieves top grade in new police performance system
HMICFRS places Cumbria in Level One
Cumbria Constabulary has been awarded the highest grading in the newly introduced police performance framework set by HMICFRS, the body responsible for assessing police forces in England and Wales.
The Constabulary has achieved a Level One grading, which denotes effective performance and ongoing improvement.
This follows the first round of national performance monitoring under the new framework designed to enhance assessment and support of police force performance across the country.
Deputy Chief Constable Jonny Blackwell expressed delight at this recognition and attributed the success to the commitment of officers, staff, and volunteers.
Blackwell emphasised ongoing efforts to learn and develop while focusing on serving the public, protecting vulnerable individuals, and maintaining community trust.
Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, David Allen, welcomed the decision, highlighting Cumbria as a safe place due to the Constabulary's consistent performance.
Allen applauded the force's ethos of continuous improvement and dedication to enhancing the service provided to the community.
