Tributes paid to "much-loved" mum who died after being hit by car in Cockermouth

Officers are continuing to appeal for information on the incident

Tributes have been paid to a "much-loved" woman who died after being hit by a car in Cockermouth.

74-year-old Catherine Sams, who was from the area, died at the scene of the collision on 14th March.

Officers say a white Volvo collided with Catherine on Lamplugh Road.In a tribute, her family said: “Mum was a hugely important and much-loved member of our family.

“We are all struggling to process such a sudden and traumatic loss. She will be sorely missed by friends and family alike, we are heartbroken.

"We are keen to request that our privacy is respected while we try to navigate this tragic situation.”

Officers are continuing to appeal for information or anyone with dashcam footage who travelled on Lamplugh Road at around 9pm.
