Two men have been jailed after a home in Kendal was burgled and a car stolen while the victim slept.

Jack Alstead, who's 20, and Keegan Thackery-Holmes, who's 27, were sentenced to 30 months each for burglary and aggravated vehicle taking.

Officers received a report from the victim in the early hours of 12th December 2025 that his home had been broken into.

The stolen car was found abandoned in North Yorkshire shortly after.

The pair were later stopped in a different vehicle where officers found the stolen car keys.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Baguley said: “Being burgled can be incredibly traumatic.

“We do not tolerate offences of this nature and continue to target burglars with Operation Themis.

“I would encourage victims of burglary to report it to police so we can continue to pursue offenders, like we have in this case.”
