Boy arrested following racially aggravated assault in Carlisle

Police have arrested a boy as part of an investigation into a racially aggravated assault in Carlisle.

It involved two boys of secondary school age on Lismore Place yesterday (26th March) at around 3pm. One of the boys suffered head injuries and was taken to Cumberland Infirmary for treatment. Officers say he has since been released from hospital.

During the assault, a third boy, who is also from Carlisle, was assaulted but didnt suffer any injuries.

A boy has been arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated assault and assault actual bodily harm and remains in police custody.

Enquiries are ongoing by officers to establish the circumstances of the incident and police are providing support to the victims and their family.

There is now an increased police presence in the area to provide reassurance to the local community.
