A 17-year-old boy is missing after entering the water at High Dam Tarn in Cumbria.

Officers say they received a report from a member of the public today (7th April) that someone was struggling in the lake.

Emergency service crews have been searching all afternoon.

A Cumbria Police spokesperson said "Cumbria Constabulary received a call at 12:32pm from a member of the public indicating someone was in difficulty in the water at High Dam Tarn.

"A multi-agency rescue operation was subsequently launched with teams deploying from Cumbria Constabulary, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, North West Ambulance Service, HM Coastguard and local Mountain Rescue Teams."

The fire service had previously asked people to avoid the area.

Crews are continuing to search the shoreline and the water.
