Families in Warwickshire facing challenges related to children’s mental health can now access more targeted help, thanks to a newly launched service commissioned by Warwickshire County Council.

The new 'Urgent Outreach for Families in Crisis' service, run by Fine Futures, aims to support families experiencing or at risk of crisis. It will be available to those already engaged with social care or health teams, or referred by professionals.

Designed to intervene early and effectively, the service offers personalised support to help families navigate difficulties before they escalate. This includes helping reduce the risk of hospital admissions, preventing family breakdown and stabilising a child’s social, emotional or mental health needs.

Building on the county’s existing 'Family Wraparound Service', the new offer brings more urgent and flexible assistance. In some cases, this could mean daily, hands-on support to help families manage routines, behaviours, and overall wellbeing.

Support will be available 24/7, with core hours scheduled around family needs- including evenings and weekends. On-call support will also be available outside these times, and a phone line offers practical advice to families and young people who are actively receiving help from the service.

Councillor George Finch, Interim Leader and Portfolio Holder for Children and Families at Warwickshire County Council, said:

“The Family Wraparound Service will support our child friendly ambitions to help children be as happy and healthy as possible. I look forward to seeing the positive difference this will make to families.

“This new service complements the Council’s ongoing work to transform services for children, putting families first - at the heart of decision-making and equipped with tools to build on their strengths and relationships to find solutions to any problems they may face.”

The initiative is part of a 'test and learn' approach, with Fine Futures adapting the service based on real-time feedback from families, young people, and professionals. The team will deliver support at home or in community settings, working collaboratively to build strong relationships and tailored solutions.

Hayley Thompson, Clinical Lead for Urgent Outreach for Families in Crisis, said:

“At Fine Futures, we place families at the heart of what we do. We provide a responsive, coordinated service that listens to families and places their needs at the centre of every decision. Rather than delivering services to children, we walk alongside families- offering support that wraps around their unique circumstances and builds lasting, meaningful connections."

For families navigating complex mental health challenges, this new outreach service could provide the lifeline they need- offering timely, compassionate help when it matters most.
