Japanese winger Tatsuhiro Sakamoto has signed a new two year contract with Coventry City.

The new deal will see him extend his stay with the Sky Blues until the summer of 2027.

Sakamoto joined in July 2023 from K.V. Oostende and made 72 appearances across all competitions, scoring 11 goals.

He's also represented Japan on two occasions.

So far this season, Sakamoto has made 40 appearances, scoring four goals and producing five assists.

He's said in a club statement: “I’m so happy to sign a new contract. I want to thank the club for my contract, I am so happy and grateful they have given me a new contract.

“I was worried about a few things, because I have moved my family to the UK from Japan, it had been difficult because of my English, but the Gaffer, coaches, my teammates, the staff and the supporters have always helped me.

“They have all helped me settle into this country and at this club, so this is a reason why I wanted to stay and sign this new contract.”
