Stratford-on-Avon District has recorded the highest household recycling rate in England for 2024/2025, according to figures published by Defra.

With a recycling rate of 63.9%, Stratford-on-Avon District Council has climbed two places in the national league table, following a 2.9% increase compared to the previous year.

Julie Lewis, Head of Environmental and Neighbourhood Services, said the achievement reflects the dedication of local residents.

She said: “This is a huge success and it's a testament to our residents and their commitment to recycling. It is an amazing achievement, and we would like to thank our residents and our continued successful partnership with waste collection contractor, Biffa Waste Services Ltd, alongside the hard work of our council officers for this milestone.”

The council have also praised Sherbourne Recycling, where the district’s recycling is processed, highlighting its ability to adapt to new materials and support efficient recycling services.
