Six people have gone on trial after the deaths of two men in Coventry nearly eight years ago.

Jonny Robbins, 33, went missing on 21st March 2018 and it is alleged he was tortured before being murdered, although his body has never been found.

Police say Johnny’s death has been linked to the murder of Daniel Shaw, who was found in Copland Place in the Tile Holl area on 25th March 2018.

He was discovered with gunshot injuries to his chest.

The trial began at Warwick Crown Court last week and is scheduled to last 12 weeks.

Sam Jones, aged 26, and Ben Whyley, aged 37, are both charged with kidnap, false imprisonment, wounding with intent, and conspiracy to murder.

Jones has admitted kidnap and false imprisonment.

Junior Makosso, aged 28, faces charges of false imprisonment and conspiracy to murder.

Thomas Young, aged 29, has been charged with kidnap and false imprisonment.

Deon Mthimkhulu, aged 24, and Jordan Dowswell, aged 30, face charges of perverting the course of justice.

The charges brought in the case relate to the alleged kidnap, torture, and murder of Johnny Robbins.

Investigators have said they do not have sufficient evidence to charge anyone in relation to Daniel Shaw’s death.
